P3 Collaboratory

Overview

The P3 Collaboratory at Rutgers University-Newark focuses on supporting faculty growth. They prioritize personalized mentorship, offering one-on-one staff consultations and educational programming to help researchers and educators refine their skills.

 


Research-Relevant Programming

Write on Site
  • Supports faculty & graduate student scholarly writing – including but not limited to dissertations, publications and proposals – in a structured, but supportive environment for motivation and accountability.
Dissertation Bootcamp
  • Intensive writing retreat for graduate students to make progress on their dissertations, and acquire tools and strategies for sustained focus and achievement of academic goals.
Advanced Theory of Practice & Teaching Graduate Course
  • Prepares graduate students to transition from graduate school to the next phase in their careers by building teaching confidence and skills, and compiling evidence thereof.
3MT (3-minute Thesis)
  • Develops graduate student presentation and research communication skills, focusing on communicating the impact of their research to the lay person and non-specialists.
Course Redesign Institute, SMARTeaching, OneHe, Magna etc.
  • Supports and provides resources for effective instruction,  boosting faculty confidence in the classroom, and increasing overall productivity and retention.
Mentoring Matters
  • Provides resources and strategies for faculty-faculty, faculty-graduate student and graduate student-undergraduate mentoring for scholarly productivity, progress towards graduation, and skill acquisition for professional and career development.
NCFDD (National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity)
  • The P3 sponsors faculty participation in the Faculty Success Program, designed to help faculty members increase scholarly productivity while maintaining balance.
  • The P3 sponsors faculty participation in courses to strengthen acquisition of funding e.g. Rethinking Your Research Funding Course.
General Grant writing
  • The P3 Collaboratory team has the knowledge and capacity to assist PIs by contributing to education-based grants or grants with the following components:
    • Course design or redesign
    • Creation of new course modules
    • Design of training programs or professional development workshops
    • Training of mentors and mentees
    • Other Broader Impact considerations
