The ORSP provides strategic support to Rutgers–Newark researchers pursuing external funding. Faculty/PIs can engage with us at any stage on idea formation, opportunity scouting, proposal positioning, or post-award relationship stewardship. Our goal is simple: to help every researcher at RU-N compete successfully for external funding, build strong funder relationships, and advance impactful scholarship and discovery. • Tailored scans for federal, state, corporate, and foundation opportunities
• Identification of high-probability funders for specific projects
• Campus-wide and targeted alerts on open calls, competitions, fellowships
• Enrollment in electronic tools that deliver customized opportunity notices

• Consultations to refine ideas and align them to funder priorities
• Guidance on multi-PI, interdisciplinary, and strategic submissions
• Workshops and one-on-one training on funding search tools and strategies
• Partnering with faculty, departments, and centers to shape competitive initiatives

 

✦ Liaison & Relationship Management

• Coordination with the Rutgers University Foundation and Lewis-Burke federal/state relations
• Stewardship support and cultivation planning with program officers and institutional funders

• Full management of internal nomination processes for restricted opportunities
• Coordination with Facilities, ORSP, and campus units when proposals involve infrastructure
• Facilitation of best practices with other Rutgers units

 

✦ Strategic Funding Intelligence

• Research on funder priorities, historical giving, and award trends
• Prospect qualification aligned to institutional strengths and Anchor mission
• Strategic planning to expand major funding activity, track submissions, and build collaborations
• Participation in university wide research administration networks (to represent and advocate for what’s best for RU-N Faculty/PIs)
